His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received in audience His Excellency Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China and President of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament, who is in the country for a two-day working visit.

His Excellency's working visit to the country, among other things, aims to further deepen the friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China by opening up opportunities for cooperation in various fields such as inter-parliamentary relations, as well as establishing a platform for the exchange of views on issues of mutual importance to both countries including legislative cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

Accompanying His Excellency during the Audience Ceremony were His Excellency Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam; and His Excellency Ma Hui, Vice Minister of the International Department, Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohammed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohammed Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council. The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman, 9th December afternoon.
